I always get frustrated with late frosts...we have had frosts as late as mothers day in my area of Kansas but the average last frost date is April 21. It only takes one when the trees are in full bloom to lose a whole crop. Not as often as peach trees but frustrating none the less. It's always a gamble. Good for you on your find!

Id be excited to do some restorative pruning on that tree thats already growing , I respect your enthusiasm for grafting tho, and I plan to try some grafting this late winter on some of my 26 fruit trees in the family property, im in the middle of a small neighborhood so deer pressure is low but we do have to deal with rabbits , raccoons and the occasional possum and ive even delta with a groundhog or 2. Show us more videos on pruning, grafting and spraying please 🙏

A while back, I planted a yellow transparent apple sapling. It is my understanding the yellow transparent is a good pollinator I planted two Jonathan apple saplings from a seed catalog many years ago. Got a good crop this year.

That’s totally exciting and wonderful. One of our little miracles or is it a big miracle. Wow

Question, background first though: My wife an I recently bought a 10 acre property in central Wisconsin, and the person that had it before we bought it had planted apple tree all over it. I see no grafts at the base of the trees and there are roughly 20 apple trees on it. I made it my mission to try each of them as they ripened. Most are small and not really note worthy, but there are several that have a pink flesh to them and one that only had two edible apples left on the tree that tasted just like a "jolly rancher". The deer had gotten to all of the apples but those couple left and left most of the other trees alone, so they knew too that they were good. If I can get some cuttings from the tree is that something you would be interested in?

How exciting! Thanks for sharing. Another adventure on the farm awaits. Does your farm have a name?

I just love you find all these apples whether known or unknown. Are you going to share the seeds once registered? I am at the age I won’t enjoy them but children and grandchildren will

Found this stunning apple out on my walk around the farm. It had been hidden from foliage until this fall when all the leaves fell off. It is sweet, tart, with a beautiful lemon yellow color. A wild seedling apple we surely are going to graft to add to the farm.
