Sad news that Green Bothy in the North of England is to be knocked down. Surely there's nothing structural that can't be fixed given that most Bothies were built upon old ruins. I suspect that the landowners simply don't want it there anymore!

I was planning to tick this bothy off of my list in the next few months. Such a shame!

Very sad to hear this. Bothies are irreplaceable and this is a huge loss.

I am so sorry for the loss of the bothy. Probably just an excuse to take another bit of our heritage. This channel has inspired me. I am determined to take up hiking now. One day I want to visit my own bothies. In Britain and beyond.

It's important to keep historical landmarks. The more that's removed, the more we lose. How sad people can't understand that.

So sad to hear people who own the property can't or won't restore it. I'm in the states and just bought a 111 year old house last year. I know that is pretty new for the UK but I think it's important to salvage historical things if we can. Those physical objects are a tangible look at what life was like then. It doubles here as a nice shelter for hikers, which might help motivate people to be active and out in nature. It is heartbreaking when people don't value these historical buildings to the degree that they should. Shame. Thanks for your videos though. I really enjoy them. Been a while since I've been to the UK and I would love to return and do some outdoor activities. šŸ•ļø Cheers

Very sad to hear.

Pretty sure there must be some stone masons adept at such tasks...I'd still try appealing to the landowners either with volunteers, or a gofundme, ..

I’m gonna guess the land owners are foreigners.

Like many of my fellow subscribers I'll never visit a bothy but thanks to you we can do it vicariously without all the fuss and palaver! šŸ˜‚ I wonder if the wonderful MBA people could negotiate a donation from the landowners - say a bothy's worth of stone and other useable parts! šŸ˜… And then organise a few 'getting it all off site' teams of volunteers šŸ¤ž If Beamish and other 'living' museums can transport whole streets' worth of buildings I'd love to see the same happen to just this one 😁 Re-name it the, "We can do it," bothy! Hey, sounds like there could be a sponsor in the

This is terrible! šŸ˜ž BTW, your channel is a found treasure. I live in the USA, and I delight in watching your content. It's comforting

Love your channel by the way. I've stayed in a bothy and plan to stay in another soon. May bump in to you one day.

What a shame. Surely with some fundraising they could repair the bothy.

That's a huge shame. It may be an excuse or it may be the majority of the reason. I suspect that since not all bothy visitors are respectful, there's always that few who spoil it for the rest, that may play a part in it. Such a shame you never got there. The pics show the inside as looking really decent but we've had such strong weather this year, heatwave, pouring, gales, it's not good for a structure with random visitors that's not a home with heat and daily upkeep. If it was left blocked up, certain people would break in to use it just for the hell of it. Safer demolished against that but still feels utterly criminal, especially when there are so few English ones in existence. A right shame that you didn't get there before šŸ˜”
