Who's the best "Warrior" class in D&D?

@general_malarky

As my action, I vote for fighter. Then I Action Surge and vote for fighter again!

@xXFluffers

Fighter fits the role of "soldier" the best for me. When I think "warrior", I think barbarian.

@TheRABIDdude

Depends what you mean by "best". If you mean the best fitting lore/theme/fluff as a warrior, then it's definitely Fighter or potentially Barbarian depending on the exact archetype you're trying to replicate and whether you're happy to reskin class abilities. E.g. with minimal effort you can refluff Barbarian's "Rage" ability as something like "Battle focus" and say the heightened defense and offense come from years of rigorous training. If you instead mean best as in "strongest class" then the answer, as usual, is Paladin.

In 2014, fighter. In 2024, probably also fighter, but Monk is the single most improved class in 24 rules, so honorable mention.

Real OGs remember when Ranger was a warrior. And it was the best warrior...

I love Paladins. I can be a tank and do high DPS, I can also heal allies and buff allies nearby, and CHA spell casting modifier means better social interactions on top of stronger spells

Let’s be honest, when a barb half’s or quarters damage and sends double back the table goes crazy 🔥

@celsiusnebula

The strongest one is the one that can cast spells.

@azanthal

It may not be the right answer but barb is my favourite for rp and gameplay

Monk is my favorite, but I honestly feel like they have way too much potential to be confined to the motif of “warrior”. Thus, I cast my vote for the Fighter :)

@dani_revop

In terms of combat ability, definitely the fighter. In terms of overall power, probably the paladin

There’s a reason so many classes take dips into fighter, they want to add a little bit of “warrior toughness” to their character in battle. You dont hear of people taking a 1-2 level monk dip.

Paladin's aura of protection buffs every single one of his saving throws and his teammates saving throws INCLUDING death saves. Add to that their amazing healing capabilities, probably the highest AC in the party, good damage output... Id say a Paladin is more useful to have overall. Fighters can attack a lot, but a good crit on a Paladin can match the damage with all the smites and they support the party simultaniously.

@MrDarkweaver

For me, because I like being able to do things other than just smush in combat, the paladin provides a chance to have some social skills, some good support magic, useful on demand healing, and can nova dps with good dice rolls.
