Dan Davis History

Hi, did you see my new video? https://youtu.be/m2CpP5tyB74

Salt is one of those commodities that was widely produced and traded but we can't see archeologically. The salt itself of course dissolves and leaves nothing behind to find, in most cases. Fortunately, there are remnants of salt production processes that can be seen.

Two of the most impressive ancient sites in Europe are the salt mines of Hallstatt which date back to the Bronze Age, and Solnitsata, the Chalcolithic salt fortress of Bulgaria.

I went to film some of this stuff myself so I hope you enjoy the video!

As always, your views, likes, and shares are enormously appreciated.

Cheers,
Dan

Dan I thoroughly enjoyed this video and always appreciate your very thorough research. In modern times we forget how scarce, valuable and vital something as seemingly simple and commonplace as salt was to our ancestors...

I thought it was a great video, hopefully people will catch up on it this week. A lot of people unplugged this weekend or had a busy weekend courtesy of current events at least in the USA and UK.

It's actually one thing about humanity, like I get it we needed it for food storage and so on but the industry and our reliance on it for our health and wellbeing is something that's always fascinated me . It's like we farm cattle I'm NZ and they eat grass but grass doesn't contain everything they need. So we give them salt lick blocks full of nutrition because if we don't it leads to birth defects and other animal health issues. You would think that we and cattle both evolved to live without having to go out of our way to find specific nutrition we don't get from our everyday diet

Hey Dan Davis currently listening to your book, God born, and I gotta say I love how you’ve included both vampire crusaders, and God born in the same universe, the vampire connection was a very cool connection. Extra cool to see vampires in this time period too. Any hints as to where we might go in time in your next book ?
