Well, the poll above says it all. Most of us seem to act only when we absolutely have to (including me). Put another way, we're motivated by fear and not reward. Which is a shame. It's no surprise that self help is such a big industry now. With nothing making us act when we should, we become lazy and scared little animals who only act in the last moments to survive, under desperation... just to avoid pain.

I rarely do that. Whatever it is is usually finished in no time, and im 5 projects ahead. But I also have no "distractions" and am in generally a good mood. 😊

I'm a product of my upbringing. Chores are something to be started if not completed before the sun comes up. It was the same in college. I would push full-throttle through the semester, but once I had my A I would let off the gas. I'd calculate the minimum outcome required on a final to keep the A, and that upset many of my professors. Example, we had group projects in my environmental science class. We had learned from experience that if we completed our projects early we would be expected to help the others catch up. So my group would get everything in order & then we would go AWOL. These lab classes were blocks of several hours, so we'd find somewhere to hide. We'd go to the bar and play darts or shoot pool. I was sitting at a bar with a pulled pork sandwich and a beer when my professor & the president of the college walked in. We were busted & sent out to babysit the slackers & the incompetents.
