Mojo Story

A Delhi woman has alleged that she was assaulted by an Uber driver during a ride on Wednesday, raising serious concerns about passenger safety in the city.

Bharati Chaturvedi shared her experience on X, saying she had booked an Uber from Vasant Vihar to Sarvodaya Enclave for a doctor’s appointment. She claimed the driver initially agreed to follow the GPS route but soon became aggressive. When she asked him to drive straight instead of taking a U-turn, the situation escalated, and she alleges he grabbed and twisted her arm when she tried to open the cab door.

Chaturvedi said calls to emergency services (100) went unanswered, and Uber’s in-app safety line provided minimal help, merely advising her to call the police again. She criticized Uber’s response, describing it as inadequate.
Uber India acknowledged the incident, stating it was “very concerning” and requested trip details via direct message for follow-up. Chaturvedi, however, said she had already provided all information during her earlier call. Following the report, Uber removed the driver from its platform, calling his conduct a violation of its Community Guidelines. The company also reminded riders to use the in-app SOS button to directly reach law enforcement in serious situations.

Chaturvedi later told followers she had minor elbow pain but was “hugely angry” over the ordeal.
