When I'm making art, everything else disappears, and I don't think about my stressors.

For me, its always the escape - the flow which is so unidentifiable in everyday life, becomes extraordinarily healing in its space. Sometimes it feels unworldly. I love it.

I’ve found that creating art energizes me. When I finally quit criticizing myself and just enjoyed it, I feel like I can do anything.

I just love to live with my head in the clouds. I'm not someone that loves to know secrets... don't like conflict.. don't love drama. I tend to love to dissociate and making art helps me to do that... lol. Fantasy over reality!

I feel the same way about researching, cleaning, reading…something that I can fully hyper-focus on, so that heavier things have less opportunity to make themselves at home. 🧠💜

Can all of these be true? Not at the same time but I’d say it’s my motivation going into it that sets the tone for the experience (and whether or not my kids are around lol). I’m actively trying to get better at not stressing. I love the times when I just zone out and lose track of everything around me and that’s what I’m attempting to experience more often

All of the above! Haha! I have many creative hobbies and I get different things from each one. Sometimes I get stressed when things aren’t going well, but mostly I find the creative process relaxing. I also love learning new things which is exciting. My hobbies go in cycles because I don’t have time to do them all. Currently, I’m mostly doing hand stitching (which is very ‘free’) and bobbin lace (which is very structured and precise). I’ve barely done any sketching for over 4 months, but I know that will cycle around again soon, especially as the weather gets warmer.

When I’m creating art, I’m not thinking, I’m doing! Then I’m really in the mood and in the present!Karen Dirmish

Usually when I use to draw and paint something that I didn't expect would result into a spectacular one and that too by me , I literally feel like yes I will very soon craft something from my own and then that inner instinct turns into a steadfast decisiveness.

I want to make art so much but then I'm left with something that I have to deal with. It feels like such a waste of time, money and materials if there's no use. I don't want 99.9% of the things I make so if they don't have a specific person to go to I just can't get my brain to justify doing it. I just can't do art for art's sake. I don't know if it's the ADHD or just me.

There are a million reasons to make art. Maybe you love the calm, the creativity, or the way time disappears when you’re deep in it. Or maybe (be honest) you love it except for the part where you feel like nothing is turning out right.
