When making the offering, besides saying the mantra, it is a good thing to dedicate not only to the Buddha but to all sentient beings, so that they can quickly attain enlightenment.
So even the simple act of pouring a little water into a bowl covers all sentient beings; you have rendered a service to an infinite number of beings and therefore the benefits are endless. It's so easy this way. While lighting a candle, you can think:
“Making this offering of light, may the ignorance of all sentient beings be burned and destroyed and may the light of transcendent wisdom shine forever in their minds".
Think that their every dualistic thought is consumed by the flames of wisdom that realizes the vacuum.
This type of offer is very effective.
And, of course, if your offer is imbued with the mind of enlightenment, of bodhicitta, then it becomes extremely powerful.
