BULBA

the flashback with Vox and Alastor in the latest episode of Hazbin Hotel that really hit deep for a lot of us emotionally, and i felt so sorry for Vox, or as he was at the time, Vincent, for the way that Alastor made a mockery of his offer and tried to make him feel bad! considering that Vox has always been my favorite Hazbin Hotel character, this was a heartbreaking scene for me, and although that does not justify the actions of Vox later in the episode, i still felt sympathy for him then about seventy years ago! anyways, i hope you all have a wonderful friday, and feel free to let me know in the replies which backstory in Hazbin Hotel is your favorite so far! :D

Not justifying vox's behavior or anything but when you consider that he is from the 1950s him having the guts to try to confess his romantic feelings to another man took alot of courage and guts.

I feel so bad for Vox. I wonder how he'd have turned out if the universe had sent him to someone like The Speaker of God rather than Alastor.

I completely agree with everything you said — that flashback between Vox and Alastor honestly caught me off guard in the best and worst ways emotionally. It added so much depth to both of them, and I think it’s one of the first times we’ve been able to really feel for Vox beyond just his usual cocky, flashy exterior. Seeing him as Vincent, still trying to reach out to Alastor with a genuine offer, only to be ridiculed, really humanized him in a way we hadn’t seen before. You could tell that rejection left a mark on him that never really went away. What makes it even sadder is how it reframes their rivalry in the present. Vox’s obsession and bitterness toward Alastor suddenly make so much more sense when you realize it all started with genuine admiration and a desire for partnership. It’s tragic to think that what could’ve been a powerful alliance turned into decades of resentment and one-sided hatred. Alastor’s reaction in that flashback, while very in character, was cold — and it really highlighted how different their values are despite both being powerful overlords. I also like that the writers didn’t excuse Vox’s later actions but still gave us a reason to understand him. That’s what great storytelling does — it makes you feel conflicted. And I totally agree, this backstory easily ranks as one of my favorites in Hazbin Hotel so far. It just gave both of them so much more emotional weight. Can’t wait to see how this dynamic continues to evolve — especially if we get more insight into what exactly happened between them after that flashback.

@UnderTheStarlight

In the flashback, ignoring that Vox wanted to rule all of Hell, which probably wasn't an exactly noble goal, he really just seemed like the nicest, politest guy you could find in Hell and seeing this side of him was really touching. I wonder just how better of a person he potentially could've become if Alastor didn't treat him so harshly back then.

Even though Vox is definitely evil, that flashback legit made me feel so bad for him.🥺🥺🥺 I hope your Friday has been good and my favorite backstory so far has probably been Sir Pentious’s.

I feel like people here kinda forget that ha was an evil cult leader EVEN BEFORE DYING... but it was a sad scene, yes.

Kind of like the interaction between Mr. Incredible and Buddy Pines/syndrome. It's amazing how treating someone poorly in the past can come back to bite you in the future.

I’m getting the feeling Alastor will be the penultimate villain in the final season.

Vox is such a complex character, and i love this scene. He's clearly a bad person, and even back then his goal was still to become a more influential overlord, so not necessarily great goals. But you still feel bad for him, he got shut down by someone he thought was a freind, that he looked up to. Imo, it adds a lot of weight to his (probably rhetorical) question to charlie in episode 3 of "do you think, even i, could be redeemed?" Because even though that was 100% just to get under Charlie's skin. It does make me wonder if he, perhaps, could, or if he's truly too far gone.

Vox is evil, yes. But imagine being told by someone you thought were you're friend that you don't mean anything to them.

Alastor backstory is very intriguing there are many animated theory about how he dies and truthfully he dies being shot in the head is proven right in one of those theory

He sounded so pure, I felt so bad.. Especially when he started getting tears in his eyes. Alastor is a big meanie >:( Part of me is glad that pretty much that entire episode was just making a fool out of Alastor.

I’m officially on Vox’s side now after what Alastor did and said to him in the past. Poor TV baby.

@TADCfandomofficial

He is in denial. He's obsessed with Alastor because he was rejected. A horrible pain. He's denying this, and by "owning" Alastor he feels like he's now in control, he also feels like taking his pain out on others is normal. I do feel bad for him, really quite sad, but ultimately does not justify his actions now.

I'm glad that my headcanon of Vox's name at some point in his life/afterlife being Vincent turned out to be true.

Damn, I didn’t know Vox’s feelings were hurt by Alastor He seemed like a good guy in the flashback and wanted to work with Alastor but he refused
