Papanegro is a Chilean band formed in Santiago in 2000 after winning the Young Bands Festival organized by the Balmaceda 1215 cultural center. Featuring Guayi, Mario, Pato, Carlinhos, and Chany, the group emerged from Santiago’s underground scene and soon made its way into bars, major stages, and national festivals.
Over the course of their career, they released four albums and performed at massive events such as Cumbres del Rock Chileno, Festifunk, Vive Latino, and SXSW. In 2011 they opened for Jamiroquai, and their music also led them to tour internationally through Argentina, Peru, and the United States. In 2004, they were nominated for the Altazor Awards, earning recognition beyond the independent circuit.
Known for their versatility and live energy, Papanegro has become a reference point for their generation. Their music continues to resonate with new audiences and holds the cult status built over 25 years of history.
