After posting my last video, I feel like for those who did not watch it in full (or even skimmed). Maybe there was some misunderstanding that may have come across as misinformation. However, I know exactly what I was reading and the messages I was attempting to convey
For those of you who know me, you know that I never advocate worshiping your hair. That’s ludicrous.
In the video, I made some parallels from some things that I’ve read from the book of Malachi. I mentioned the book of Job at the beginning because that’s where I started before I was led to other scriptures and while I was in the book of Malachi, that’s when I noticed a PARALLEL between the right amount of “heat” (certain trials) God allows to refine the human spirit and how those of us with fine natural hair, which is very fragile (and devastating for many hence the video) by nature can also use the right amount of heat, literally though not figuratively – to help our hair flourish
I did not say that this was what the book of Job was about. The one and only point from the book of Job that I pointed out that had nothing to do with hair and I said nothing about it in relation to hair is how Job‘s friends made him feel like he sinned or did something wrong, which is why everything was happening to him that was happening at that time. They had this belief that you only get good when you do good and bad when you do bad. That is not a falsity that is fact - the belief of that time, and even people today still believe that.
I wanted to clear up that while his friends had that belief. It is in fact, not true that God does not give us bad things or do bad things to us because we didn’t do right. That’s what HIS mercy is actually about. Otherwise half the world would be struck down by now.
Also, FOR THOSE THAT DIDN’T WATCH UNTIL THE END I pointed out that we often times treat God as if he’s something to rush through and again I made another PARALLEL between how we also tend to rush through our self-care, a.k.a. hair care and expect to see good results
I encouraged people and always encourage people to spend time in the Word and to spend time in God’s presence because that’s when you will actually see change
The whole premise of Fine Natural Hair and Faith is not to ever make someone think that their hair needs to be worshiped. But I always encourage people to include God in your hair care process like you would any other part of your life. Exercising stewardship over how you care for your body just like you would exercise stewardship over how you care for your soul and your spirit
I do not know how this was misconstrued, but I wanted to set the record straight
I did a takedown of my mini twists and flat twists. I was planning to get the video taken down up this past weekend but didn’t have time so I’ll be sharing it this weekend.
I wanted to show you all the difference from when I got my hair trimmed in February (6 months ago) on flat ironed hair vs. today on blown out hair. Look at where that line is. If my hair were flat ironed today, it clearly would have surpassed February's length. So, hair routines are on point <3
Today was trim day and while I do have a lot of shrinkage from these twists there’s a couple things to point out:
1. She trimmed more than last time. Showed me the pic before and after but the most came from the front
2. Flat twists in my fine hair make me look nearly bald in the front. Not doing them again. At least not small
3. I am going to start doing more twists outs and blow outs with Bantu knots as Inspired by @IamDesiRich because they make the hair look fuller and I’m not feeling the flatness of this style.
Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate every strand of hair on my head (even the gray ones). I just need to start maximizing what I have for at this stage of the game my hair has been sort of “hidden “ You’ve not seen all it can do when it’s not plastered to my scalp…yet
